Would post system specs, but the machine is tied up attempting a render that's been running now for over 48 hours.  Running WinXP Pro, all apps not required are turned off, render size is 2048, cycles are set to 256.

Can anyone give me some kind of an idea of how long a 'normal' render takes?  Also, any suggestions in speeding things up would be appreciated.

Normally overnight works for me, you know you have to click save bitmap? Otherwise it will just keep rendering.

There is no such thing as a "normal" render.  Too many variables at stake.  Some take minutes, and some are seemingly never done.

I was informed that the rendering process never ends.  You have to choose when to save and when not to.  I let the render proces continue for about 20 minutes to half hour then save in bitmap.  then start the render process again for the same amount of time to save again over the first one.  This seems to work for me. :)
